Amidst the current global pandemic, essential businesses across the country are remaining open and operational to support front-line workers keeping us healthy, including ICATT Network company, WITTENSTEIN.
WITTENSTEIN develops customized products, systems and solutions for electromechanical drive technology. As the company remains operational, they are prioritizing requests from medical manufacturers and other critical-need operations in the fight against the pandemic.
“As essential supplier, we have a duty to provide medical manufacturers what they need during the COVID-19 crisis,” said Peter Riehle, President and CEO. “Our whole team is working with a great sense of urgency to produce the necessary products – some products are even now available for 24-hour delivery. There is a great sense of pride being able to come together during this time of need.”
The safety of the WITTENSTEIN employees, including ICATT Apprentices, is a top priority. WITTENSTEIN is extensively following recommendations from the CDC and local governments. The organization has even updated its internal processes to further its compliance.
The manufacturing, assembly, shipping and service departments are now operating in two separate shifts and teams. All machine and high contact surfaces are sterilized between each shift and employees are required to wear protective gloves. Employees are also minimizing the sharing of tools, machines and other equipment.
“In this time, the apprentices are playing a critical role in keeping our production up to speed with demand. They are also receiving hands-on experience in a mission critical state,” said Riehle.
The ICATT team is proud of the apprentices that are making valuable contributions while gaining life lessons of tenacity, calm and courage during this global pandemic. Learn more about our apprenticeship program.
