For the second consecutive year, Illinois Consortium for Advanced Technical Training (ICATT) Apprenticeship Program is sponsoring and participating in the Veteran Career Summit to help companies develop, grow, and enhance their veteran workplace initiatives.
As a G.I. Bill certified program, the ICATT Apprenticeship Program welcomes veterans and is dedicated to helping companies close the skills gap by integrating veterans into the civilian workforce. The apprenticeship program is fully benchmarked on the German Dual Education System and combines company-specific knowledge with hands-on learning while apprentices obtain a debt-free associates degree.
Panelist and head of the ICATT Apprenticeship Program, Mario Kratsch, will discuss ICATT’s G.I. Bill certified program that assists veterans in obtaining skills for in-demand professions. “Veterans are a strong talent source for companies who are struggling to fill open positions with highly-skilled talent. Being G.I. Bill certified is an added benefit for companies,” said Kratsch. “With the skills gap growing, we work with high-tech manufacturers and companies with complex logistics to help them build a pipeline of talent over time. Veterans innately comprehend many of the skills these companies need to keep pace with the current economy and sustain business growth.”
The summit will focus on the importance of veteran workforce initiatives and the different benefits and skills veterans bring to the table.
“One of the ways that the ICATT Apprenticeship Program drives success with Veteran hiring is eliminating the barrier of understanding the different titles and ranks that Veterans held in their respective military fields,” continued Kratsch. “Using the Get Skills to Work initiative’s credentialing system and matching the veteran’s Military Occupational Specialty code (MOS) with information on civilian manufacturing skills, Veterans have the opportunity to progress through the program faster, and immediately become value to the company.”
The event is taking place Thursday, July 11, at mHub Chicago from 8:30 am – 12:15 pm. Additional sponsors this year include Exegistics and York Solutions, LLC. The event is open to the public and media is welcome to attend.
