Earlier this year, Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb signed an executive order creating the state Office of Apprenticeships and Work-Based Learning.
The new office will be part of the Indiana Department of Workforce Development and focus on increasing the number of state residents who participate in apprenticeship programs. The Industry Consortium for Advanced Technical Training (ICATT) Apprenticeship Program is proud to help manufacturers offer high-tech apprenticeships in the state.
“We are excited to help provide long-term workforce development solutions for companies in Indiana,” says Mario Kratsch, Head of the ICATT Apprenticeship Program. “We look forward to working with companies and education partners like Ivy Tech Community College to help companies close the skills gap and build a strong workforce through apprenticeships.”
The ICATT Apprenticeship Program is the only program of its kind in the Midwest. It’s based on the successful German Dual Education System model, which integrates theory, practice, and hands-on learning to train highly skilled and globally competitive employees. The ICATT Apprenticeship Program provides companies the framework, training plans, marketing and recruiting support, and quality control they need to implement a world-class apprenticeship program.
Gov. Holcomb says there are 80,000 open jobs in Indiana and indicates his enthusiasm for students to finish school and fill them. He emphasizes that the state needs “to skill-up working adults as quickly as possible.”
